今回の浮世絵名作品展は、江戸情緒あふれ風情を感じる風景画や、歴史上の人物たち、しっとりとした美人を描いた名品の数々を幅広く展示し、加えてこの秋、松本で開催されます『信州松本そば祭』に合わせて、１０月1日〜１０月３１日の期間中、浮世絵に描かれた『山海名産尽信濃蕎麦』国芳画を始めとした蕎麦を描いた浮世絵の作品を特別に展示いたしました。常設展は「五つの版元による東海道五十三次－江尻、府中、鞠子」です。
This time we exhibit famous ukiyo-e works such as scenes that express the overflowing elegance of the atmosphere of Edo; historical figures; various widely exhibited famous works of luscious beautiful women; and in addition, held in Matsumoto this autumn, in conjunction with the “Shinshu Matsumoto Soba Festival”, from October 1 to October 31, the “Sankaimeisanzuku Shinano Soba”, ukiyo-e created by Kuniyoshi, a specially exhibited work in which soba was depicted in ukiyo-e for the first time.
歌川国芳は妖怪や変化を描いた作品を多く残しました。中でも西洋風の巨大な骸骨を描いた「相馬の古内裏」はよく知られています。これは平将門の残党の物語に取材したものです。今回は金毛九尾の狐として知られる玉藻の前を中心とした狐、酒吞童子・土蜘蛛といった変化のものや将門や藤原純友の残党の妖術と戦う源頼光とその家臣、源平合戦、豪傑たちの化け物退治を中心に妖怪変化、歌舞伎の舞台に登場する幽霊・妖怪を描いた作品を全部国芳で紹介します。作品選定に当たっては妖艶で美しすぎる妖怪たちをえらびました。四月からの展示でご覧にいれた爽やかな女性たちとは違った、怪しい魅力を湛えた美女たちをご覧にいれます。
Utagawa Kuniyoshi has left many works depicting apparitions and ghosts. Among these is the story of the remnants of Tairano Masakado. A huge skeleton, drawn in Western-style, “Souma no Furudairi”, is another famous example. Also legends, such as the origin of the traditional gold-haired nine-tailed fox, Shutendoji, phantoms that were called Tsuchigumo, and the extermination of the ghosts of heroes. 「爽やかな国芳」と題し、従来ほとんど紹介されることのなかった国芳の素晴らしい色彩の作品の中から、青い光を感じられるものを中心に選んでみました。空や風や水の流れを楽しんでください。
The special exhibition is of the ever popular Utagawa Kuniyoshi, as seen from the perspective of this museum in particular.
Entitled “Sawayakana Kuniyoshi” (Refreshing Kuniyoshi), unlike the typically exhibited works of Kuniyoshi, from his works of great colour, we chose those which express a feeling of blue light. Please enjoy the sky, wind, flowing water, and more.

The permanent exhibition introduces the “Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido”, by five different publishers. This time we feature Kanbara, Yui, and Okitsu.
国貞は22歳から79歳までに浮世絵師の中では最多と言われる数万点の作品を描きました。今回はその中で浮世絵界へのデビュー作とされる「二見ヶ浦 初日の出」を展示いたします。
Amongst the masters of ukiyo-e, it is said that Kunisada was the most prolific, creating tens of thousands of works from the age of 22 to the age of 79. In our current exhibition, from these works, “Futamigaura Hatsuhinode”is making its debut in the ukiyo-e world.

One hundred years ago in Japan, there weren’t things such as airplanes, and the only means to travel abroad was by ship. Artists who visited distant foreign countries painted the landscapes they saw. Exotic pictures were also painted based on the diverse information brought back from overseas. Please enjoy world travel from a century ago.
メインは大正~昭和にかけて世界を旅し、風景を描き続けた吉田博の作品です。また、古代古典の「世界の七不思議」を題材にした歌川国長の「新版阿蘭陀浮画」も展示いたします。なぜ鎖国の中でこのような絵が描かれたか不思議に思われる事でしょう。
This exhibit is mainly the artwork of Hiroshi Yoshida, who continued to draw landscapes as he traveled the world through the Taisho and Showa Periods. In addition, we are displaying “Shinpan Oranda Ukiga”, that Utagawa Kuninaga based on the ancient classic Seven Wonders of the World. It can be considered a mystery why such pictures were created during a time of national isolation.
